Ice Energy is now in a position to offer a complete service for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Through our experience with heat pumps as part of the renewables industry, and our work on a number of whole house renewable energy projects targeting zero carbon, we have acquired the product knowledge and design expertise to be able to offer a concept-to-commissioning service on solar PV systems.

We have partnered with a market leading solar installation company to offer a fully MCS accredited service which will ensure optimum performance, operational longevity and access to all the available tariffs.

THE PRODUCT

Ice Energy’s solar PV product has been selected from a range of different manufacturers. We selected the product that we believe best represents the needs of our customers; offering high performance, reliability and value. The high efficiency of the polycrystalline modules means that each kW of system occupies a relatively small roof area. This means that more power can be fitted into a smaller space, which optimises the electricity generation and resultant feed-in tariffs.

The quality of our product is demonstrated by the fact that it is fully accredited in accordance with the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).

INSTALLATION

Ice Energy is offering full installation as part of our solar PV service. Our installation partner has been installing solar thermal and solar PV systems for over seven years. This experience is reflected in the fact that we are able to offer full MCS accreditation for the installation of solar PV systems. This is important in securing eligibility for permitted development rights and the feed-in tariffs.

FEED-IN TARIFF

Starting in April 2010 owners of PV systems will be rewarded for every unit of electricity they generate. In addition to this, each unit that is exported to the grid will receive an additional tariff of at least 3p/kWh. The feed-in tariffs are categorised as follows:

BENEFITS

All of the electricity produced from a PV system has zero CO2 emissions, which is becoming increasingly important for the health of our environment. Moreover, microgeneration reduces transmission losses, which account for around a tenth of electricity generated in power stations in the UK.

Once installed, all of the electricity produced from a PV system is free, giving a substantial financial benefit. Therefore the total financial benefit of PV systems, combining the feed-in tariffs and reduced consumption, is significant, and in many cases a far better investment that putting money in a bank!

HOW IT WORKS

A photovoltaic system works by converting light in to electricity. The PV array is connected to the consumer unit or distribution board, supplying electricity to your home or building.

The electricity produced by the PV system is monitored by an OFGEM accredited PV meter which is located between the PV array and consumer unit or distribution board.

APPLICATIONS

Our PV systems can be retro fitted on to an existing roof or roof integrated in new build and roof renovation projects. We can also provide systems suitable for ground level or flat roof applications using aluminium mounting frames.

Systems are normally connected to the national grid, but can be standalone, off grid design.

We are able to offer a full design, supply and installation service for both residential and commercial buildings.
