The New Year is traditionally seen as a time for change and in light of recent figures released by the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC), this may never have been more true if you are one of the million plus people using oil to heat your home.
The moment we have all been waiting for has finally arrived as the world's first Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) launches to the Commercial sector.
Information published on the legislation.gov.uk website indicates that the rules governing permitted developments have been extended to cover the installation of Air Source Heat Pumps.
C4 Grand Designs winner Francis Shaw talks to Ice Energy about his Hellifield Peel project which involved rebuilding an ancient scheduled monument ruin into a glorious country residence, the heating for which is powered by a ground source heat pump.

Renewable energy firm, Ice Energy, expands further into the market this month with the launch of a new company, Ice Energy Floor Heating.
Ice Energy Heat Pumps and Even Heat have been working together in a strategic partnership over the last five years to provide customers with fully integrated heating solutions. These two companies, with knowledge and expertise in their respective fields, have now come together to launch a joint venture company, Ice Energy Floor Heating.
Based in Banbury, Ice Energy Floor Heating will be headed by Director Keith Westcott from underfloor firm Even Heat. Keith says,
“We are delighted to launch Ice Energy Floor Heating and look forward to providing customers with a dedicated service, to design, supply and install bespoke floor heating systems.”
Underfloor heating uses the benefit of radiant rising heat and relatively low water flow temperatures to heat the floor surface. The heat is evenly distributed, absorbed by the structure of the building and objects in the room. This results in an efficient heating system, reducing running costs and lower carbon emissions.
Ice Energy is the UKs largest provider of ground source heat pumps and has installed more combined heat pump/underfloor systems than any other company.
Andrew Sheldon, Managing Director of Ice Energy says,
“With the launch of Ice Energy Floor Heating we are fulfilling an increased demand from our customers for more efficient heating systems. The combination of underfloor heating and heat pumps provides a total heating solution that has a positive effect on your carbon footprint with the added benefit of reduced running costs.
Here at Ice Energy we are perfectly positioned to provide customers with a fully integrated heating system, hassle-free through just one contact. In addition, developers and social housing providers will benefit from this streamlined approach by simply sourcing all their heating requirements from one company.
The launch of Ice Energy Floor Heating forms part of Ice Energy’s commitment to promoting and integrating renewable energy solutions.”
