Whether it be about emission ratings, energy usage, health, indoor air quality or acoustics, Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery Systems come with many advantages for you and your home. These advantages range from increased drying out times for decoration; through to a very low noise output and many more.

MVHR: An ideal partner for Heat Pumps

One of the least commonly known advantages of MVHR is its ability to work alongside a heat pump. Ice Energy heat pumps can provide the heat for your home and then an MVHR system can retain that heat due to its excellent heat recovery efficiency. As the heat pump won’t have to work as hard to keep your home warm, and the MVHR system is keeping that heat in, you can benefit from lower heating bills.

A Healthy, Happy Home

Another of the advantages of MVHR is that there is a year round removal of indoor air pollutants and an elimination of the risk of mould, stale air and condensation, resulting in a healthier building, and a healthier living space for the occupants within it. This is also great news for allergy sufferers in the way that fresh clean air is being filtered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, reducing the effects of pollutants.

Automatic Summer By-pass

Automatic Summer By-pass is a very simple, yet effective, feature of an MVHR system. As the name suggests, it is only used in the warmer months, where the system automatically switches the heat exchanger on or off for a Rotary system, or opens a bypass damper for a Counterflow system which helps to keep your property cooler in those warmer months.

Easy to Install and Maintain

MVHR systems only require one electrical point in the roof space, utility room or plant room; therefore it's generally not difficult to find a place to put one of these units. They also only require two breakout points through the structure of the house. This is therefore better for air tightness, as well as outside appearance as this eliminates the need for multiple extractor grilles.  Most of the MVHR systems also come with a filter reminder feature on the controller, with the filters needing roughly one change per year which demonstrates how easy they are to maintain. The maintenance is also aided by user friendly controls which are easy to use and understand as and when they are needed to be used, given that most of the time you can leave the MVHR unit to its own accord.

No Need to Open Windows

Due to the fact that a Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery system ventilates clean air throughout your home, there is no longer a need for items such as trickle vents, extractor fans, or even a need to open your windows. This can help keep your heating in, reduce your energy bills, reduce the noise levels coming into your home, and provide added security and peace of mind as your windows can be kept shut.
