In 2010 Surrey resident Natasha Goldring and her husband Philip installed a ground source heat pump from Ice Energy in their 4-bedroom new build property in Surrey. What prompted you to investigate heat pumps?
"We visited a ski chalet in France in 2007 where they had a ground source heat pump which got us thinking then because of rising fuel prices and as we wanted to do something a bit more green, we looked at heat pumps in more detail."

How did you find the installation process?
"The installation process which included the laying of 'Slinky' pipework in 3 x 50 metre trenches was fine and all went smoothly.

"Our ground source heat pump distributes heat through an underfloor heating system."

What has it been like living with heat pumps?
"We love it! The heat pump looks after itself and our living room is kept at 20C. We'll definitely be fitting one in our next project."

What impact has the heat pump had on running costs?
"Compared to our previous property we are saving around £480 a year but our new build house is 10 times bigger than the property we were heating before!"

What are the benefits of heat pumps for you?
"It's an effortless, smart system that adjusts all by itself. There are no cold spots and no cold nights - just the same perfect temperature."

Why did you choose Ice Energy as your heat pump provider?
"We visited an exhibition years ago and met Ice Energy reps on a stand there."

What has the service been like from Ice Energy and would you recommend them to others?
"On the whole very good. We did have a part failure which caused a leak but that was rectified and Ice paid towards the bill. Since then I have recommended them to others and already discussed my own future heat pump requirements for another property."
