Heat Pump Case Studies: Air Source Heat Pump in Bucks

Ice Energy Air Source Heat Pump

Property type: Four-bedroom detached bungalow built in 1984

Product installed: 14kW Mitsubishi Ecodan Air Source Heat Pump

Distribution system: Radiators

Previous heating system: Oil boiler

Installation date: February 2011

Cost savings: Approximately £1,000 per annum

When the maintenance on his old boiler became more expensive, more frequent and more of a nuisance, Buckinghamshire resident John Hawkes decided all the signs were pointing towards heat pumps especially in the light of rising fuel costs and the availability of grants.

"I did some initial research on the internet and after a rapid response from the team at Ice Energy and a visit to their premises to see the systems for myself, I was satisfied on their competence and suitability" says Mr. Hawkes.

So in February 2011, Ice Energy installed a 14kW air source heat pump at the property with the installation taking around a week to complete and Mr. Hawkes hasn't looked back since. "The system runs itself and is left operational every day throughout the year with not one setting being adjusted."

"We are an elderly couple and need to be warm. We have confidence that whenever we return home or get up in the morning, our home will be at the right temperature. The cost savings are significant - so far maintenance is nil."

So how would Mr. Hawkes rate his experiences of Ice Energy? "The service from Ice Energy has been more than satisfactory and I would certainly recommend them to others."
