Barry and Flora Joyce built a unique new build home in Derbyshire in 2012 which uses an Ice Energy air source heat pump to provide their heating and hot water. The plot was unusual in that it measured only 170m2 in total with a fairly steep bank the rear.
What prompted you to investigate heat pumps?
"We took advice from our architect who recommended we consider heat pumps."
How did you find the installation process?
"The installation was organised by our builder so we had very little first hand experience of how this went other than it took about a week to install.
The heat pump is contained within a cleverly designed ( by our architect) structure of which a bench is also part .The larch strips around the heat pump do not hinder the flow of air and make it visually acceptable.
The heat pump distributes heat via an underfloor heating system in our home which featured in Homebuilding & Renovating magazine."
What has it been like living with your heat pump?
"So far it has been excellent."
What would you say are the benefits of heat pumps?
"Cost savings and a good feeling knowing that we are making a contribution to sustainable living."
Why did you choose Ice Energy to supply your heat pump?
"Again this was on the advice of our architect."
What has the service been like from Ice Energy and would you recommend them to others?
"The service has been good and I would definitely recommend Ice Energy and heat pumps to others."
