Heat Pump Case Studies: Air Source Heat Pump in Welsh New Build

Property type: 3-bedroom detached new build property in South Wales.

Product installed: 14kW Mitsubishi Ecodan Air Source Heat Pump

Distribution system: Underfloor Heating also supplied by Ice Energy

Installation date: January 2012

Kelvin Lewis has embarked on a 3 bedroom, detached new build project in South Wales and decided to investigate renewable energy systems due to rising fuel costs and the availability of renewable energy grants. Having spotted Ice Energy and their range of products at an exhibition, Mr. Lewis decided to contact them to find out more.

"I explained the project to the team at Ice Energy who were very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They recommended I install one of their Ecodan air source heat pumps which could combine with one of their underfloor heating systems so that's what I did."

The installation has been part of the overall build which at the time of writing (March 2012) is ongoing but both the
heat pump and the underfloor heating have been installed in a process described by Mr. Lewis as "very good".

Although not living in the property at the moment, Mr. Lewis feels he is already benefiting from the installation. "The heat pump is simple to use and I have been very easily able to adjust the settings to allow for the drying of the floor screed for the underfloor heating. Additionally, the cost savings and need for less maintenance than conventional heating systems has provided me with peace of mind, especially when undertaking a new build project  which can be quite stressful at times."

Summing up his experiences, Mr. Lewis had this to say; "Overall I have found the service from Ice Energy to be excellent and as a result I have already recommended them to others."
